Though most of us gossip, the word still has a negative connotation among some people. Print and broadcast media use such substitutions as rumor, informed sources and whispers. When they refer to “the gossip media,” the connotation often is negative, when, in fact, TMZ, Access Hollywood, National Enquirer and other gossip media have scored accurate significant scoops. What’s your reaction if I call you a gossiper?

If you called me a gossiper I would be totally flattered….it can be informative and enlightening but I do try to keep my facts as accurate as possible, cheers Lillian
Gossip is only a form of communication, and like all other forms, the content it delivers may be positive or negative, helpful or hurtful, truthful or false, innocent or malicious.
The best way to go is never to indulge in, or participate in, gossip. I have always followed this rule.
